Armor fits typically operate within scramble range (<7.5km) where Scorch is not applicable. Fitting a Shield Tank allows one to make maximum use of Scorch, by allowing for maximum mobility, allowing you to dictate range to one of your choosing.
The shield Harbinger I use:

Valkyrie II x5
It will thrash a Shield AC Hurricane without much difficulty. As for cap, it lasts 2m52s with all Vs and if you can't kill a Battlecruiser solo in that time frame, you're doing something wrong (ignoring active tanked Myrmidon).
This fit is to my personal taste, you can downgrade the Damage Control in order to fit a small neut on but to be honest, frigates typically aren't a problem.
Another thing to consider is that the Shield Harbinger scales much, much better then a Shield (AC) Cane in gangs, where gang bonuses are active. A Shield AC Cane operates ideally within 15-20km, where falloff doesn't affect the DPS that much.
Arty Canes are another story. But as for kiting Shield Battlecruisers, the ranking (IMO) goes:
1) HML Drakes 2) Artillery Cane/Pulse Harbinger (depends on circumstance etc., they both have their pros and cons). 3) AC Cane
As for proof, check my corporation's killboard, easily findable through a quick Google search (1st hit). The vast majority of my kills are in small gang/solo, most of them in a Shield Harbinger although I have recently started flying the AC Hurricane as well as the Artillery Cane to see what the fuss is about.
Also for those suggesting that you can easily kite this fit in an AC/Artillery Cane, look again at the range and speed of this Harbinger. 29+8.2km = outranges a AC Cane very, very easily, whilst still managing a healthy 1245m/s. Whilst you are faster then this Harbinger, it's not by much and unless you close in to within 20km he can very easily get away. My Blog - Flee on Sight |
